After finishing history with Sarah, I picked a subject that we learned in history and wrote a story about it! Billy Graham is the paper!
Billy
Graham
Raised in a godly Christian home, Billy Graham went on to
have a full life of ministry and influence the world. In 1918 Billy Graham was born in Charlotte,
North Carolina, and he grew up on his parents’ dairy farm. His parents were William Franklin and Morrow
Coffey Graham. At age fifteen he gave
his life to Jesus Christ. Billy Graham
attended Bob Jones College in Tennessee where he graduated. Sunday night, March 28, 1937, Graham preached
his first sermon. After he moved to
Wheaten, Illinois, he continued to speak there. All of Graham’s early life
experiences made him into a great man of faith.
Billy Graham was a missionary. Every day he looked for
people who needed help and talked face to face with them about the Lord. To prepare for his talk, he memorized a
paragraph from another preacher’s sermon and then practiced the paragraph out
loud to himself. He passionately reached
out to people with sad hearts and talked about the Lord. He spoke through television and in
stadiums. Billy Graham traveled through
America and also toured Europe for a time, continuing his mission work.
Billy Graham’s parents influenced him more than anybody, and
their example led to his impact on the nations. Of all the people in his life,
his mom influenced him the most by praying for him every morning at ten
o’clock. Billy Graham also spoke with
Barack Obama about the Lord. Obama said
that Billy Graham impacted him so much that he became a Christian. His preaching was so powerful that it reached
over three million hurting hearts. After
World War II, Billy Graham preached at Chicago’s Soldier Field to a crowd of
sixty-five thousand people. He has
influenced many of the presidents of the United States. No one in the past
century has surpassed the achievements of Billy Graham for the kingdom of God.
